Effects of the coupling of the studied geological storage options on the surface land use planning under consideration of the aspect of the power supply infrastructure

 

This work package forms the interface between the modeled effects, potentials and risks for the differing storage options and the conditions regarding the surface, including the specifications for land use planning. It relates the results the simulated storage functions and effects from work packages 3.1 to 3.4 to the surface planning domain and evaluates these regarding their agreeability with present land use planning goals. The evaluation results are visualized cartographically in 2D and 3D.

This work package aims at the subproject-comprehensive development of a methodology for the estimation of the energy-economic potentials and applicability of the storage options in dependency of the present power supply infrastructure. Based on the „status quo“ registration of line network and network infrastructure, the distribution and position of the energy-economically usable underground storages and reservoirs and the present and planned power stations, preference areas with economically usable potential in terms of energy are to be identified.

The 2D visualization is carried out using several open source GIS applications, for the 3D representation the Visualization Toolkit (VTK) is used.

The working groups Landscape Ecology and Geoinformations (CAU), Applied Geology (CAU), the department Environmental Informatics (UFZ), working group Applied Geophysics (CAU) and the department Monitoring- and Exploration Technologies  (UFZ) are jointly working on WP 3.5.
